The Bavard Bar is the wonderful creation of Tim B’vard…
He is a brilliant compere, making us all laugh and feel included in his quirky world which is described as – “A delightful blend of TED, comedy and radio 4, Sort of”
He gives the stage to three people to talk about their passions…
As a regular to Tim’s events – as well as having spoken for him a few times – I have learnt so much, laughed so much – been entertained and discovered things I never knew were ‘things’, let alone the wealth of information, the depth, the breadth and passion that lay therein!
The events take place twice a month at two different venues, The Kino-teatr in St Leonards-on-sea, and The Towner art Gallery in Eastbourne, which is also ‘on sea’ as it happens!
I spoke at the Kino in August, and then Tim asked me to give the same talk in The Towner in October…
I did give the same talk, but it was completely different…
The same slides, but a different day, a different audience and I didn’t have an exact script, so my talk was to the people who were there now.
I talked about my best running years – the eighties – and about my love of trying to run fast…
That I still love trying to run fast!
I’m not as fast, but that doesn’t matter, because the 24 year old me is alive and well inside – and she is utterly convinced that we can run faster, much much faster…
And so the fun is just the same
The running road stretching ahead, now and now and now
Doing the thing I love
Loving the thing I do
My best years are now!
